The description “steel rule” is rarely enough to define an order. Cutting and creasing rules need to be specified for the application they will serve. A clear checklist helps buyers and suppliers discuss the same product.
State the rule type
Identify whether the inquiry concerns cutting rule, creasing rule or a rotary rule specification. Explain the material being processed and the tooling in which the rule will be used. Include the current product reference if you are replacing an existing item.
Record dimensions and profile
Provide the required height, thickness, length or packing unit, and quantity. Include the cutting-edge or creasing profile, hardness or other specified grade where these are part of your existing requirement. Use consistent units and attach a drawing or clear reference photo when helpful.
Review compatibility before purchase
Check the proposed rule specification against your die board, bending equipment and production requirements. The required material and profile should be confirmed for the particular job. An apparently similar product photograph should not replace a written specification.
