Drawings and reference photographs can make a product inquiry easier to understand. They are especially useful when a product name does not identify the exact size, profile or machine connection you need.
Label the essential information
Mark dimensions and units on the drawing, and identify which measurements are important to the application. Include the required material or grade if known. Give every drawing a clear file name and revision so the supplier can refer to the correct version.
Use photographs as supporting references
Send a clear overall photograph and close-ups of labels or relevant features. Explain what the photograph shows and whether you need the same item or a different specification. A photograph helps identify a product, but measurements and written requirements are still needed.
Confirm the interpretation
Ask the supplier to identify the proposed specification in the quotation. If a drawing or image can be interpreted in more than one way, clarify it before ordering. Share only the information needed to explain your product requirement.
